I lived several years in Berlin some time ago, and still consider it to be my second home, where I spend time regularly. Berlin has a large number of lakes in and around the city. There is also a number of artificial beaches and organized places where one can go swimming, but nothing beats the Wildbaden, meaning the swimming from the shores of the lakes, outside of the organized, controlled areas. Although it is not always allowed, it is wildly popular and in a way it is the true embodiment of the casual and free Berlin lifestyle during the long summer season. I started portraying the freedom and ease I connect with the Wildbaden in the Berlin lakes in the summer of 2024.
