I lived several years in Berlin some time ago, and still consider it to be my second home, where I spend time regularly. Berlin has a large number of lakes in and around the city. There is also a number of artificial beaches and organized places where one can go swimming, but nothing beats the Wildbaden; the swimming from the shores of the lakes, outside of the organized, controlled areas. Although it is not always allowed, it is wildly popular and in a way it is the true embodiment of the casual and free Berlin lifestyle during the long summer season. I started portraying the freedom and ease I connect with the Wildbaden in the Berlin lakes in the summer of 2024.
